Freshly launched, the new 2026 Harley-Davidson Breakout isn't just making the hearts of die-hard Harley fans beat faster. Like no other cruiser bike, the Breakout combines grace and style with powerful performance and an imposing presence. The new Teal Thunder color is a real eye-catcher – it's absolutely stunning. Harley has consistently managed to score points with unique designs and colors in the past, and the 2026 Breakout in its striking teal hue is no exception. I think it's pretty obvious that I've been a personal fan of the Breakout since its introduction in 2013.
No technical changes
I've had the privilege of testing the Breakout several times. Most recently, I tested the 2023 HD Breakout. I can't detect any changes to the chassis, engine, performance, or electronics, and that's a good thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it; only fix itinerary is good, and I don't find any of that on the Breakout. So, anyone expecting a new riding experience, more power, or anything else will be disappointed. It still rides just as cool and powerfully as it has in recent years. It's worth remembering that the concept has been modified a few times. In 2013, Harley launched the model with an 1800cc 110B engine, followed by a 1700cc Twin Cam 103B engine producing 75 hp and 130 Nm of torque. In 2018, the Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine followed, producing 1745 cc, 86 hp, and 145 Nm of torque, and then the Milwaukee-Eight 114 with 1868 cc, 94 hp, and 155 Nm. Since 2023, the Breakout has been equipped with a Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine with 1923 cc, 103 hp, and 168 Nm of torque. As noted in the test from 2015, there was still room for improvement in the Breakout, including in terms of power, which has since been addressed.

The 2026 color palette is truly extensive. Harley enthusiasts can choose from a total of five colors, including blood orange. Price-wise, it's even more affordable than the 2023 model. In 2023, the Breakout cost CHF 26,900 for Vivid Black and CHF 27,300 with any color. In 2026, buyers will pay CHF 26,500 for the HD Breakout in Dark Billiard Grey and CHF 27,150 for the four other colors. Considering global inflation, this represents a significant improvement for the buyer.
And it seems that Harley-Davidson's sales are also picking up. In the first two months of 2026, Harley-Davidson sold 12% more motorcycles than in 2025. After a seemingly endless downward trend of the last 10-15 years, this is an early sign of a turnaround, although it's still a bit too early for celebration. Has the worst been over? I certainly hope so for the iconic American brand.
Overall, buyers can look forward to slightly lower prices and a truly captivating color option in 2026 if they opt for the Breakout. Technically, it remains the unique bike I experienced three years ago: a guarantee for cruising fun.
