I was quite surprised to learn that the European importer of the American chopper brand Big Bear is a Swiss company based in Solothurn. Here is my first impression.
They are the absolute eye-catcher, the well-shaped custom bikes with their unique design. At every trade show and event, they attract people like light attracts moths. They are the crème de la crème of motorcycle design and (almost) all that counts is their fabulous look. So it's no surprise that these "classy pieces" often cost quite a chunk. All too often you see such bullets with price tags starting at Fr. 100'000.00, and if need be, certain unique pieces cost far more than Fr. 140'000.00.

Reto Schatzmann must have said the same thing to himself when he decided to advertise precisely his bikes at significantly lower prices. Starting at Fr. 38,500.00, you can call yourself the proud owner of a real dream machine. And even then he will have enough to fight for in Switzerland. Not only have many such brands gone bankrupt in recent years, no, even many dare with such a bike beauty hardly among the people, where all but know the envy of fellow men. But obviously he has experience and a thick skin, he imports but not the first time such special bikes in Switzerland and Europe.
Thanks to the American Kevin Alsup and his wife Mona, who produce these masterpieces in San Bernardino, California. In 1998 they had started in a small family circle with this idea to produce a handmade American bike of the very highest quality. I hope this story continues.
